WHO WE ARE
Uptown Stamp Show is operated by Markowitz Stamps, LLC. Three generations of the Markowitz Family work at Uptown Stamp Show: David Markowitz, owner, who was first employed in a stamp and coin store in the early 1960s, and became a part time stamp show dealer in the early 1990s; daughter Michalina Markowitz, business manager; and grandsons Cyrus, Elijah, and Miles Markowitz, store sales clerks.
Markowitz Stamps will continue to have a table at Northwest stamp shows. See the Out-of-Store Show Schedule on this website.
David Markowitz continues to maintain an active law practice as a business litigator with the law firm Markowitz Herbold, PC, located in Portland, Oregon. http://www.markowitzherbold.com/
Our goal is to be a leading seller of worldwide postage stamps. Our customers are collectors, dealers, and other resellers. We set our prices to be attractive to show dealers, eBay and other internet sellers, and collectors who are looking to buy stamps at reasonable prices. Our inventory emphasizes pre 1950 worldwide stamps, but we also carry stamps after 1950, covers, and US material.
We are also active buyers of all stamps and related material. Please bring your stamps to Uptown Stamp Show during our regular hours, or email us for an appointment to view your stamps. We will make an immediate offer or, where appropriate, arrange an auction consignment with Harmer-Schau Auction Galleries, Inc. For more information about Harmer-Schau, visit their website www.harmerschau.com or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
HOURS OF OPERATIONS
We are regularly open Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We may be available by appointment on Sunday through Wednesday. Please email David Markowitz at or Michalina Markowitz at to schedule an appointment.
We have named ourselves a stamp SHOW, rather than store or shop, because we will regularly be joined by a visiting dealer who will have a table in the Uptown Stamp Show to buy for and sell from their inventory. Dealers can email if interested.
INVENTORY AND PRICING
We offer hundreds of country collections, most priced at 20% of Scott catalog. Pricing may be slightly higher for a few popular areas, or less when the condition does not warrant 20% pricing. Most collections are on Scott pages, but some are in Lindner or Lighthouse hingeless albums, Minkus albums, or Scott Specialty albums. We also carry multi-volume international collections, usually priced at less than 20% of Scott.
SETS AND SINGLES
We maintain an inventory of over 50,000 worldwide sets and singles with Scott catalog prices up to $100. We also carry over 5,000 worldwide sets and singles with Scott prices from $100-$40,000. 98% of our sets and singles are priced at HALF Scott or less.
U PICK COLLECTIONS
Dozens of worldwide collections are available for UPick selection. Our customers may review the UPick collections in our store or may take them home, and select any or all stamps at 10 cents each, regardless of catalog value. We try to have 100,000 stamps available in UPick collections, with every stamp priced at 10 cents. Filling empty spaces in a worldwide collection has never been easier or cheaper.
BARGAIN BANKERS BOXES
Our Bargain Bankers Boxes are filled with material that doesn't fit with our inventory, is already well covered in our inventory, odds and ends, odd ball material, covers, non-Scott listed, stock books, pieces of collections, and anything else that looks like it can be sold profitably on eBay. Most of our Bargain Bankers Boxes are priced from $50-250 for the entire box. These boxes offer an excellent opportunity for eBay and other resellers to make substantial profit with minimum investment.

A 20% discount is granted to all dealers and other resellers on virtually everything we sell, including collections, individually priced sets and singles, UPick selections, and Bargain Bankers Boxes. Higher dealer discounts can be negotiated on very large purchases. Discounts are also available to collectors who make large purchases.
